Ohrai Noriyoshi II : 1966-1984 Art Book Review
// Halcyon Realms - Art Book Reviews - Anime, Manga, Film, Photography
Ohrai Noriyoshi (1935-2015) is a renowned Japanese illustrator whose widely acclaimed art work include posters for Starwars : The Empire Strikes Back and many motion pictures, on top of the innumerable illustrations he has done for books, magazines, games and more.
This book is the official catalogue for the Ohrai Noriyoshi II : 1966-1984 art exhibition held at the Miyazaki Art Center in Miyazaki, Japan back in July 2015. The book collects over 500 pieces of illustrations and is the single biggest collection of the artist's work that can be found in a book.
This is a spectacular art book from Ohrai Noriyoshi, who sadly passed away just a few days before the time of writing. His work endures, and I give this my highest recommendations.
Existing copies of this book were printed for the exhibition and isn't widely available, so if you spot a copy available on Amazon don't hesitate. A small caveat on the binding used – it allows for the book to be opened fully without curving the pages near the spine and makes for great viewing, but looks pretty delicate. Handle with care.
I also suggest checking out the artist's other art book Green Universe.
